For Immediate Release: March 10, 2021

Board of Trustees gathered around a conference table in conversation

Roy Sahachaisere was sworn in as student trustee and participated in the first Coast Community College District Board of Trustees meeting of his term on March 3, 2021.

Student Trustee Sahachaisere attends Coastline College. He previously served as an officer of the Associated Student Government at Coastline College – one of District's three colleges.

"Trustees make every attempt to hear from our students and communities, yet there is no substitute for having a student at the table when discussing the future of the District," said Board President Jim Moreno. "I am so pleased that Student Trustee Sahachaisere stepped up to be the elected representative for his peers."

The District Student Council Selection Committee convened on February 19, 2021, and voted to elect Sahachaisere to serve as Student Trustee for the remainder of the previously vacant 2020-2021 term. Student trustees engage in discussions on items brought before the Board and provide an advisory vote.

ABOUT THE COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT

The Coast Community College District is located in Orange County and is among the largest districts in the United States. The District's three colleges – Coastline College, Golden West College, and Orange Coast College – provide traditional degree and transfer opportunities, career and technical training, basic skills, English as a Second Language, and other community programs. Thanks to the Measure M community bond funding approved by voters in 2012, the Coast Colleges are in the midst of a $698 million revitalization of educational and student support infrastructure.
