Happy New Year! Thank you to everyone who returned this week to help prepare the way for the upcoming spring semester. My appreciation especially to those who are teaching or supporting winter session classes.

Since the New Year is often associated with luck or fortune, it calls to mind a quote attributed to Thomas Edison: "Good fortune is what happens when opportunity meets with planning." Many have worked to plan for this calendar year's winter, spring, summer, and fall sessions. You have laid the groundwork for continued smart recovery in enrollment and a returning vibrancy in campus life.

I do hope you can take a moment to enjoy the fact that this year is still in its early days. There is great potential for good fortune in 2024.

Persistent Innovation

O.C. Veterans Community Network and Resource Fair at Golden West College

In a continuing show of persistent innovation, Golden West College will host its second O.C. Veterans Community Network and Resource Fair on January 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fair is co-sponsored by the Coast District, Cypress College, and California Department of Veterans Affairs. This event promises an array of invaluable services and opportunities aimed at supporting student veterans districtwide and fellow veterans throughout the region.

The fair will offer on-the-spot services catered specifically to Veteran Readiness and Employment (Chapter 31), Veterans Affairs Health Care enrollment, and help with Veterans Affairs Disability Claims. Breakfast and lunch will be provided to all who register. Those wishing to attend are asked to RSVP to OCVSO@occr.ocgov.com.
