The Coast Community College District joins with family, friends, and community in mourning the passing of Suzanne Savary, Ph.D. A resident of Newport Beach, Dr. Savary was an active member of the District Foundation Board of Directors, joining in 2019, and was recently appointed by the District Board of Trustees to serve on the Measure M Citizens' Oversight Committee. She also served on leadership search committees, most recently for the selection of the vice chancellor for finance and administration.
"Dr. Savary loved the Coast District, and it showed in everything she did for us," said Chancellor Whitney Yamamura. "We will miss the warmth, wit, and insight she contributed to every occasion."
Dr. Savary was a retired University of Southern California associate professor, where she taught management and communications in the Marshall School of Business. As CEO of her own management consulting firm since 1979, she helped clients, ranging from Fortune 20 companies to small local firms, grow their businesses by teaching managers and executives how to create the high-performance environment. Her extensive experience in non-profit work includes being one of sixteen association presidents chosen to oversee the transition in the hierarchy structure of the YWCA of the USA.
On Wednesday, July 19, 2023, the Coast Community College District Board of Trustees adjourned in memory of Dr. Suzanne Savary. On Thursday, July 20, 2023, the Coast Community College District Foundation Board of Directors joined in honoring her life of service.
