COSTA MESA, CA - The Coast Community College District is proud to welcome Thalia Espinoza as the newly appointed 2025-2026 Student Trustee. A dynamic and passionate advocate for equity and student empowerment, Thalia brings a powerful combination of lived experience, academic excellence, and leadership to the role. Her appointment marks a continued commitment by CCCD to elevate student voices and foster inclusive representation across its campuses.

Thalia Espinoza is a passionate and accomplished student leader currently pursuing studies in Sociology and Paralegal Studies at both Coastline College and Golden West College. She is on track to transfer in Fall 2026 and already holds Associate of Arts degrees in American Studies, Arts and Humanities, and Social and Behavioral Sciences.

Thalia brings a wealth of leadership experience to her new role. She serves as the Equity Senator in Coastline’s Associated Student Government, Chair of the Student Senate for California Community Colleges (SSCCC) Undocu-Student Caucus, Student Assistant for the Dream Resource Program, and Vice President of both the Cultura Y Poder Club and the Student Parent Club.

As a mother, wife, and formerly undocumented student, Thalia is deeply committed to equity and inclusion. Her advocacy focuses on supporting undocumented students, individuals with physical and mental disabilities, formerly incarcerated students, and foster youth. She is determined to be a strong and compassionate voice for students who may feel silenced or marginalized, especially in today’s challenging political climate.

"I want to be the voice for students who are afraid to speak up," said Espinoza. "Our stories matter, and I’m here to ensure they are heard."

Thalia’s appointment reflects CCCD’s ongoing commitment to student representation, diversity, and social justice. The District looks forward to her leadership and the positive impact she will make during her term.
