Trustee Kim Carr

COSTA MESA, CA - The Coast Community College District announces the appointment of Kim Carr to serve as Trustee for Area 3 until the next regularly scheduled election for board members. Area 3 encompasses Huntington Beach and Sunset Beach, along with minor portions of Westminster and Midway City.

With Trustee Lorraine Prinsky retiring from the Board after 17 years of service, the Board of Trustees sought applicants from Area 3. Following interviews with three candidates, the Board voted to appoint Carr during a special meeting on February 23rd. She will take the oath of office at the March 4th regular meeting.

"I am deeply grateful to the Coast Community College District Board of Trustees for their support, trust, and confidence in appointing me to serve as a Board Trustee representing Area 3. As both a former student at Golden West College and Orange Coast College, and as a parent of an OCC alumnus, I value the dedication, investment, and commitment every employee brings each day to ensure student success. I will work tirelessly to ensure our premier colleges continue to provide innovative, high-quality education that is accessible, affordable, and equitable. I am proud and truly honored to be part of the Coast Community College District family. Thank you for this amazing opportunity," said Kim Carr.

Carr's distinguished career includes a decade of public service to the City of Huntington Beach, including serving as Mayor, where she championed small businesses, environmental protection and responsible stewardship of public resources. In the private sector, Carr has over 25 years of leadership experience in broadcast media sales. She also volunteers as a board member for the Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center, the Bolsa Chica Land Trust, and the Coast Community College District Foundation.

"It is my pleasure to welcome Kim Carr to the Board of Trustees," said Board President Elizabeth Dorn Parker. "Her impressive record of public service, passion for supporting students, and genuine connections to our colleges will be instrumental as we continue to provide outstanding education for the community."
