COSTA MESA, CA - The Coast Community College District (CCCD) proudly announces that the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) has reaffirmed accreditation for Coastline College, Golden West College, and Orange Coast College for the full eight-year cycle, the maximum term granted by the Commission.
The reaffirmation confirms that each college meets ACCJC's high standards for academic quality, student support, institutional effectiveness, and continuous improvement. This achievement reflects a districtwide commitment to student success.
"On behalf of the Coast Community College District Board of Trustees, I extend our heartfelt congratulations to Coastline College, Golden West College, and Orange Coast College on the reaffirmation of their accreditation," said Board President Elizabeth Dorn Parker, Ed.D. "We are proud to serve our community with institutions that uphold the highest standards of academic excellence."
"All three colleges achieving reaccreditation with a clean bill of health is quite an achievement," said Chancellor Dr. Whitney Yamamura, Ed.D. "It reflects the strength of our colleges and the dedication of our faculty, staff, and administrators who work every day to support our students."
Coastline College earned the highest possible outcome in the accreditation process, with no compliance requirements and no recommendations for improving institutional effectiveness.
Coastline College President Dr. Vince Rodriguez emphasized the collaborative effort behind the achievement, noting that "this achievement is a direct result of the collective dedication, professionalism, and commitment of our entire college community," and that the outcome "has positioned Coastline as a model of institutional effectiveness and quality among community colleges."
The ACCJC gave Golden West a "clean bill of health," meaning the Commission made no compliance requirements or recommendations for improvement.
Golden West College President Meridith Randall praised the college's "hard work and dedication" that went into a successful accreditation process.
Orange Coast College also received reaffirmation, with ACCJC acknowledging OCC's exemplary performance through a commendation for its strong institutional planning processes and effective use of disaggregated data to advance student success.
Orange Coast College President Dr. Angelica Suarez said, "Accreditation is a college-wide effort, and this reaffirmation is a testament to the quality of our academic programs, student support services, institutional effectiveness, and commitment to continuous improvement."
Accreditation is a rigorous, peer-reviewed process that includes institutional self-evaluation, evidence-based review, and site visits conducted by teams of higher education professionals. Across the District, faculty, classified professionals, managers, and administrators worked collaboratively to demonstrate the strength of their college's institutional quality and effectiveness.
